Playwright & Director: Rafael Ponce

Five strangers who don't know each other. A night that shouldn't have happened. Between songs and drinks, the cracks emerge: abandoned dreams, broken promises, lives that could have been but never were.

A tragicomedy about a middle class that no longer knows what it is — about a generation that inherited a future that never arrived, and the last refuge where you can still pretend everything is fine.

What happens when one generation's dreams become the next generation's cruel joke?

The Company

Theatre that observes, discomforts, and doesn't ask permission.

Los Teloneros is a contemporary theatre collective based in Valencia, Spain. Led by playwright and director Rafael Ponce, the group builds its work through prolonged collaborative processes where rehearsal is a space of discovery and risk.

Their theatre moves between fragmented text and physicality, drawing from Beckett's strategies for absurd problems, the golden age of silent cinema, and the clown's disdain for transcendent reflection — all without ever yielding to discouragement.

The body present. The word as action. No unnecessary artifice.

Artistic Approach

Three pillars, one obsession: the present.

Creation

Original playwriting built through extended rehearsal residencies. Text emerges from the body, from improvisation, from the friction between actors — never imposed top-down.

Staging

Minimalist scenography. Light as dramaturgy. We trust the actor's presence and the audience's intelligence. No unnecessary artifice — only what the scene demands.

Critical Thinking

Theatre as a lens for our time. We don't offer answers or comfort — we stage the questions that keep a generation awake. Comedy and tragedy share the same breath.
